Don't Cut Yourself in Half

Don't Cut Yourself in Half

The best rule to remember is that to create a long tall image, you need to stretch your body proportions instead of cutting them in half. With short legs, and likely a short torso to go along with them, using a tucked in shirt with a belt will cause the eye to see two choppy pieces to the body as opposed to one long frame. Instead of these snug at the waist Nine West Shoes looks, try tops that sit on top of your trousers and come to mid thigh to elongate your torso, and pants that are wide to the floor.

Elongate the Leg

This point refers directly to your shoe choice. As short women, we are bared from choosing strappy shoes that have a horizontal strap across our ankles. This style chops your leg off at the ankle and works against Steve Madden Shoes you much the same way a belt does when it cuts your upper body in half. To make the leg look longer (and more lean!) choose closed toe pointed heels. This draws the eye all the way down the leg and to the very tip of your toe. Height of the heel is less important that a closed and pointed toe.

Raise the Waist

Even if you're thin, an empire waisted shirt is the friend of a short girl. Creating an artificial waist so highly positioned on the body gives the appearance of a longer torso. Of course the added Steve Madden Boots benefit of an empire waist (one that is fitted around your rib cage, just beneath your bust) is that these tops are also very slimming. Stay away from large patterns opting instead for solids or small prints.

Walk The Line

No secret to this tip, vertical lines help Steve Madden Clogs add inches to your appearance. The trick is to style the stripes correctly. You'll want to choose subtle and thin pin striping on pants as opposed to thick lines in bold colors. In tops you'll want to look for lines that create a "V" on the front of your body. Diagonal lines that come to a point at your waist create a slimming look that also stretches your torso to it's brink.
